Decided to cancel the Borla S-Type catback order and save $500 by buying the Ford Racing Sport Axle back.  This I believe is the same muffler axle back called "Stingers" which are manufactured by Borla and were prob the most purchased in the 90s for Mustangs.  I guess they are not sharing the Stinger name.  Borla opting for S Type and Ford Racing going with "Sport".

I almost missed these entirely, as the Ford Racing website has the wrong photo of the right part number.  The part I bought was  M-5230-MGTLA.  Most online shopping sites showed them having oval mufflers.  And the key attribute is they are 49 state legal. Not like that is going to stop California.  But Ford Racing's website displayed the photo of the Touring muffler kit, which is factory equip on the Shelby GT500, and is 50 state legal.  Some may prefer the deeper growl of the Touring.  But for me, it was too close to stock.  I wanted to turn up the soundtrack just a little higher.  But not so loud that if one day i add a supercharger, i can still hear the whine.

And after reading the latest 5.0 Mustang article, hearing the below sound clip, and tons of "Stinger Axleback" Youtube videos, the $500 savings was just icing on the cake.

From the March, 2011 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords

2011 Ford Racing Mustang Gt Side Shot ...once I turned the key and the Coyote immediately barked its current location coordinates to most of Dearborn through FRPP's new (M-5230-MGTLA) Sport axle-back exhaust kit. So now Smoky didn't even need to see me to hunt me down.
But after spending a few urban and freeway hours in their sonic embrace, I have to confess that even as the recognized curmudgeonly old fart around these pages, I've just flat fallen in love with these mellifluous mufflers, which are pretty vocal without being obnoxious in any way. They are not boom boxes (they seem to sing in a higher octave), nor do they drone at all on the highway. On lifting the throttle, they emit a playful cackling back-off burble the likes of which I haven't heard since prior to the days of catalytic converters. Windows down or up, they are truly symphonic, but like this car's graphics, not exactly stealthy.  (Entire article here: http://bit.ly/gn5ODJ)

Below is a sound clip I found online on shopping cart pages as well as Ford Racing's site.

Here is what they should look like.  Easy enough to distinguish.
