Keep an eye on this forum thread over at SVTPerformance.com. It is a great resource to see what modifications are working to get faster.
I have an internal battle going on with which direction to go with my 5.0. This is my daily driver. I like low maintenance. I am not going to trailer it to Englishtown to race. I am not going to put on skinnies or slicks.
After looking over the forum thread it is apparent to me that it will be almost impossible to get into 10s without upgrading to drag et or slicks. With or without a supercharger.
So my next question is, if i am not going to upgrade my rubber beyond a ultra perf summer tire or maybe at most a street drag radial, is a supercharger just a waste of $5000?
If you look at the list, "cobra mike" broke into the 11s with 19" wheels and stock tires that come with the brembo kit! The only modifications he had was UPR lca, Steeda cai, Lethal x, Magnaflow catback. He dyno'd 426rwhp-398rwtq, tune'd by Mike Rousch @midatlantic performance.
His run was 11.95 @ 116 mph.
Here is his time slip:

I would bet money that if you were to have installed any supercharger kit onto "Cobra Mike's" car, it would have trapped a higher speed but still have been low 11s with the same 19" stock wheel tire setup.
I am gathering that a naturally aspirated setup with right parts, tune, driver and street radials, could produce a 5.0 that runs low to mid 11 seconds all day.
The teenager in me says, "Shut up and just click order" on the supercharger. The 30 something yr old says, "Upgrade with an end goal in mind. See the entire puzzle."
Then there is the entire warranty issue; Ford was generous with a 5 yr/60k mile power train warranty Don't want to flush that down the toilet. I wish Edelbrock would officially release their kit already so I can check that out too. They are the only company who will offer (for an upgrade) a matching 5 yr/60k mile warranty on the supercharger as well as your engine, tranny, diff, if they fail because of the supercharger install. That warranty is calculated from the in service date, or the day you bought the car from Ford.
To be continued...
