Can someone setup Evolution Performance vs AMS Alpha 9?
0 comments Posted by michael adrian at 9:20 PMWould love to see these two cars line up.
The 2011 GTR, from the factory, does the 1/4 mile in 11.9 sec @ 121 mph.
I was doing some searching on my old posts and remember AmericanMuscle got similar numbers with bolt ons, prior to their 100 shot.
So with the parts below, you can keep up with Godzilla and run 11.76 @ 119mph
+Cold Air intake
+Bama 93 Race tune
+Ford racing 4.10 gears
+Magnaflow off road x pipe
+Mangaflow cat back exhaust
+Nitto NT05R 18" Rear tires
They then added Racestar wheels and mickey Thompson M+H tires and ran 11.68 @ 120mph
Add Nitrous Express 100-Shot amd tune to the above and you will be running 10.93 @ 125.
I would presume anyway you cut it, the GTR will have any mustang out of the hole with its launch control and awd. But its awesome knowing for less than half the price with mods, the 5.0 can keep up in a straight line.
I would love to see a "Mustang vs GTR" night at the race track.
Ha, The 2011 Mustang has a sunglass holder after all! Just discovered it

No more!

Off Topic: 2012 Nissan GTR vs 2011 GTR acceleration video
0 comments Posted by michael adrian at 3:33 PMFor about 1/3 the price of the GTR, I think the 2011 GT can be made into formidable competitor to the GTR, for a lot less money at the drag strip. However you can't argue with the specs that the GTR comes from the factory and the AWD advantage.
Would love to see Ford lap the Nürburgring with the Boss 302, as well as a Ford Racing prepped GT with Whipple blower and suspension upgrades. Let's throw in there other tuners such as Roush and another using a centrifugal blower.
Here is the new 2012 Godzilla
The blue car in this video is a 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition with Rays wheels. The red car is a 2011. Official numbers: 530 hp/448lb-ft and 485/434 respectively.
Nissan claims 2.886 seconds to 60 (in perfect conditions) for 2012 but the best run we eyeballed (it was damp with less than ideal surface temp) was 3.0 seconds.
This video is only the 2012 Nissan GT-R, but features a cameo by GT-R Chief Engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno in the foreground.
Comparing Flowmaster’s New Exhaust Systems on a 2011 Mustang
0 comments Posted by michael adrian at 1:18 AMBoth Hushpower and American Thunder systems are compared. I am still enjoying the stock exhaust note.

I highly recommend these videos. Yes it is marketing, but it is entertaining. But definitely high production value marketing series. I am not in the market for a truck but if i were I would at least check out the F150 with the Ecoboost engine.
It truly sounds like this engine will run longer than i would need to keep the car!

All in attendance were floored when this basically stock + blower & exhaust car threw down an insane 577 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER @ only 6psi on GTR's Dynojet dyno. You too can have a daily driven, 600+ horsepower beast by contacting your local Vortech Distributor today and getting this amazing system on your new 5.0 Mustang. With the highest efficiency, reliability, and performance on the market, you can never go wrong with Vortech Superchargers.
Special Thanks to Ricardo Topete, Gonzalo Topete, Eddie Zapata, and the rest of the GTR High Performance gang, plus Phil Dore for organizing this fun dyno day event.

AmericanMuscle taking pre-orders on Boss 302 intake manifold!
0 comments Posted by michael adrian at 9:37 PMI knew this would be avail as a Ford Racing part. I can only imagine what tuners will be able to do with combining this part with other bolt ons such as cams, headers, x pipe, and a centrifugal supercharger.
What is slick with this setup on a 5.0 is the v6 strut bar would fit over it with stock hood. and you still have room to install a Procharger, Vortech, or a Paxton blower.
Or it gives many naturally aspirated options at well.
AmericanMuscle's pre-order price is $599.

2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 w/ Brembos have SINGLE Piston Sliding Rear Calipers
0 comments Posted by michael adrian at 9:14 PMWow! This is def bad news if your paid the extra for the Brembo package. I recall when i ordered my car i was happy to save the $1900 and forgo the Brembos. I have learned from the purchase of the Nissan 350Z Track package back in 2002, those Brembos didnt feel too much better than stock performance brakes.
Ultimately, eventually, when I slap on a supercharger, the chassis will prob need 6 piston calipers up front, to compensate for the extra weight of the supercharger and extra velocity!
Here is Edmunds Inside Line blog post and confirmation from Ford PR:
http://bit.ly/singlepistonbrembo
When we got our long-term Mustang GT in, I supervised the brake inspection.
"How many pistons."
"One." came the muffled response from under the car.
"how many?"
"One."
"Try again. How many?"
"One. Go look."
Edmunds Blog excerpt:
"We called Ford from the track to find out what was going on. Told them we'd bought the car off a lot and that it was not a press vehicle or any other sort of pre-production / tuner vehicle.
A few hours (an eternity for a response from a PR rep) we got a call back that the 2011 Ford Mustang GT with the Brembo package does have SINGLE piston sliding rear calipers and not the two-piston ones as advertised.
Media and consumer information is set to be changed as soon as is possible. Expect some pissed off Mustang owners."
Maybe Ford will remedy current Brembo package owners with either rear caliper upgrade at no cost, or some compensation?

Per their youtube posting:
Wednesday night means track night for Team Lethal. So we geared up for another night out at PBIR but before doing so we needed to make a few changes to the car. Up until this point we've been running the stock suspension except for some QA1 rear shocks that we had installed for last weeks track outing. Although the stock suspension worked for quite a while we believe we reached it's limit with the new found power. Without hesitation we headed to the guru's of mustang suspension UPR Products in Lake Worth, FL. Not only does UPR make the best performing suspension products in the mustang community they've also supported us with all of our projects and have so kindly allowed us to use their driver Jeremy Martorella to race our cars.
Most of the suspension stuff we did however I'm unable to speak about at this time as we were fortunate enough to have 5.0 Mustang Magazine editor Steve Turner come down and follow the install which will be in an up and coming issue of 5.0 Magazine. However I can tell you that the results we got at the track last night showed how well the suspension helped us. The car after the suspension was a lot more consistent and wasn't all over the place like it was with the stock suspension. We're definitely glad we did the upgrade as we know we'll need it for the next phase of our project.
So after we finished our installation we loaded up and headed to the track. The weather was cool around 51degs on the way up to the track and as the sun finally went down we found ourselves in the 40's.
We made our first run and bam.. clicked off our best time of a 10.23 making us the fastest 2011 GT in the country that runs the MT-82 6 speed manual transmission. A few more runs showed us that the suspension was working as we clicked off a 10.24, 10.25, 10.26 and finally our fastest pass of the night and our new best of 10.20@134.85.
Although that's fast it's still not fast enough. We've got a goal of stepping into the 9's with the stock 6 speed manual trans and the stock motor. So we'll be back next week with some new gearing which should hopefully get us there.
In the meantime I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our awesome customers,, friends and vendors who stand behind Team Lethal.

Complimenting someone, only trying to compliment yourself?
0 comments Posted by michael adrian at 9:00 PMAs an enthusiast I often give props to car owners when i see something i appreciate. It can be from any price point or performance level.
But today I had a fairly annoying encounter at a car wash. I go to a nearby gas station/brushless car wash in the winters. As the car was being toweled off, the gas station was being refueled.
The truck driver lended a quick comment, "Is that the new 5.0? How is the gas mileage?"
1st of all, you really shouldn't ask a sports car owner, how are the mpgs. that's like asking a Texan Steakhouse, "How is the fish?"
When i told him I get about 18mpg local, he chuckled and said, "thats worse than my car" And of course, he didn't offer what his car was. after i oblidged and asked, he revealed he has a C5 corvette. Not just any C5 corvette. oh no. his got 23 mpg all day. than he says his C5 has a prototype Z06 motor! then he says 700HP! Did i tell you he has two dodge challengers? One that is a special numbered 2008, and he just ordered the new new 2011 model too. Oh and he has a couple classic cars too.
If your are going to give someone a compliment, just for the sake of bragging about your fake collection, I say that is lame! Keep your comments to yourself and keep it moving please.
"Hey buddy, here is my collection at home." two can play that game.
