"Baby Girl" is her name

Decided she doesn't need a tough name to back up her numbers nor her bark.  I found myself calling her "Baby Girl" three times since i picked her up Monday. so the name is going to stick.

Kona blue metallic

I love this paint color! it is usually Blue, but in certain times of day and light conditions can be almost black, a lighter shade of blue, and even some deep purples.

This would be my no brainer pick if you do not want any type of drone. I had the RSC tech in my GTI and they worked as advertised. RSC usually weighs more than stock muffler since it has no baffle material. Rather, it uses metal chambers to create opposite sound waves to cancel out the drone.

I saw great gains on my gti with tune, so I expect the 5.0 version to also perform great. I haven't experienced other brands for the new 5.0, but drone at any rpm is a deal breaker for me. so Corsa is #1 in my book until I am proven wrong.

And thx to Mark Ostroot at Price Ford!!
I picked up my car from a local nj dealer, but want to mention I ordered from a dealership 3000 miles away because of the great price and ease to purchase. No hassle on best price. Rather than take his price to my local guy to negotiate/fight, I awarded the business to him for being straight up from the start.
My car was randomly chosen for quality inspection and ford engineers drove 48 miles. They left an "excuse me" note on the windshield. I rather someone look over it with a fine toothed comb.
I put 25 miles on it tonight and all I can say is wow! I'll write a better review an post better pics/video when I catch my breath. But this is the best coupe in the world at 30-35k.
Will detail tomorrow and tint this week.

Picking up my 5.0 today

I am en route right now.

Definitely got lucky on my pre-order going though on the 15th.  I am unboxing and syncing as we speak!

6 yr/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I figured 1 or 2 claims will break even on this policy in the next 6 yrs/60k. Like CV boots, electronics, Air cond., or pretty much anything if you count labor.

I also got wheel/tire coverage for 5 yrs/unlimited miles.
I would highly recommend the tire/wheel coverage if your city has huge potholes like NYC/NJ. My GTI did not have it and it cost me.

They were the 1st in the 11s and 10s and 10s NA.

Luckily there are a few great Mustang tuners in the area, but Evolution Performance, in Aston PA, is only 2.15 hours from me.

Once I have the car and have broken her in, I might have to use them as my tuning shop.

But I am planning to def wait a yr for all the bolt ons to come out and be tested and tuned, with feedback from other customer's with real miles on the mods.

I am really excited to see the superchargers coming out from Whipple, Ford Racing, Roush and Kenne Bell.

My MSRP was $36,000 with all my options. (3.73, 401A premium, HID, Security, Comfort pack)

After Price Ford's discount and Ford rebates, my final price was very close to the below Honda Accord V6 Coupe.  It begs the question why wouldn't you buy a 2011 Mustang 5.0 if you are in the market for a Coupe! If you are in the market for a v6 coupe Mustang, the math becomes even juicier!

I ordered through Mark Ostroot at Price Ford in Seattle WA.  I live in NJ!  But the ordering process has been so easy and saved me a lot of money.  If you are looking for a Mustang, I highly recommend you give Mark a call at (360) 457-3333.  Tell him the blogger from NJ who ordered a Kona Blue 5.0 sent you.
Do not let the physical distance dis way you from giving Price Ford a shot!

Bottom Line:  I paid a little more than a 2011 Honda Accord V6 coupe, to own my 2011 5.0!

Mark also helped me get financing and I qualified for 4.7%.  Painless transaction.

Ford rebates for my order totaled $1250!

Mark from Price Ford has been very gracious and proactive in providing me updates on my car.

And especially patient and nice to take my proactive emails/phone calls.

Below is the list of what the status updates have looked like for me since I ordered March 17.

Dear Mr GTI,

I want to preface by saying I am very picky with my cars and am hard to impress when it comes to cars. Due to a friend of mine who has a stable of exotics, thus I have been totally desensitized when i see Lambo's and Ferrari's.

I have gone through many many cars throughout the years. Some notable include Honda s2000, 350Z track package, 2001 Audi S4 Avant, and 2001 Mercedes SLK Sport package.

But you, Mr GTI, have have been in my possession longer than all of the above mentioned. A testament to your "Can do anything" attitude and fun to drive spirit.

Fast, nimble, reliable, fuel efficient, and great 6 speed manual.

You never broke down on me, and have kept my family and I safe for the past 36 months. The amount of "Crap" you have hauled for me has been heroic! You have helped me move three times!

Although I am unbelievably excited to be receiving my new 5.0 in a couple days, you will be sorely missed and I hope you find another great home!

Thank you,

MO

Baseline after 2,000+ miles on odometer was 391 RWHP / 385 RWTQ
After tuning, it made 415 RWHP / 399 RWTQ!!!

What is so impressive is how much power gets to the ground for this new 5.0. It seems tuners all over the country have rightfully received the Mustangs 1st and I am very glad they did. They are then able to go for broke and test the limits of this new Coyote engine. So far I have yet to see 1 explode. I believe Evolution Performance has sprayed 200 shot and the car is still running strong.

They updated the numbers.

PLEASE NOTE: I talked to our tuner and he accidentally did the first pull in 4th gear. So the actual baseline today after 2,000 + miles was 391 RWHP / 385 RWTQ, but the final numbers were 415 RWHP / 399 RWTQ as posted.

Read the owner of the car, post his excitement when Livernois posted the results prior to picking up the car...

2011 RTR package Video

Sick car!

Ford has unveiled a new dealer-installed package for the 2011 Mustang. Dubbed the RTR, the package was jointly-developed with Vaughn Gittin Jr. - the driver of the Monster Energy/Falken Tire Mustang GT in the Formula Drift series.

My 5.0 shipped today

I feel closer to 18 yrs old than 33 right now.

Big kudos to Ford and the Mustang team. The 3.7 v6 is a special car that enables a lot of customers of many ages and lifestyles to get into the Mustang family. If you are in the market for a car and have a budget of $21k, you will be hard pressed to find a better car than a 2011 Mustang V6. 300+hp, 31mpg, sexy throwback coupe looks (think these new mustangs look more like the 1969 fastbacks), ford sync, and the list goes on...

Not everyday you see a techie site humming about the perf of a muscle car, yes even v6 muscle!

Let's not call this article a review. I'm not going to drone on about interior creature comforts or available options. I'll just state up front that they are on par for a $22k+ car and besides, other outlets have covered those items extensively. No, what follows is a description of what the 2011 V6 Mustang feels like to drive. This car is something special. It's a rare amalgam of real power, affordable price and driving excitement that hits you hard and makes you beg for more.

"American Racing Headers sent us the ONLY Two Pre-Production sets of 1 7/8 Longtube Headers with 3" Collector and 3" Catted X-Pipe and a Set with 3" Off-Road X-Pipe.
We installed the 1 7/8 Longtube Headers with 3" Collector and 3" Off-Road X-Pipe on our 2011 Kona Blue Mustang GT 5.0L 4V!
ARH really went out of their way when designing these headers so the installation would be much easier. They fit like a glove and the quality is amazing...
We got our hands on the first production run... the Headers are available for purchase on the website and will be shipping out in the next two weeks!"

"Lethalcamp — June 10, 2010 — We had the opportunity last night to take our new 5.0L to the track for the first time. We wanted to get some baseline runs in with the car completely stock. The car came from the factory with a 6 speed manual trans, 3.73 gears and the Brembo brake package which also consists of 19" wheels with Pirelli tires.

The weather was hot and humid with air temps of 82deg (Typical FL summer weather). Behind the seat was Lethal Performance's own Derek Perez. At this point Derek had only driven the car on the street for a short cruise so we knew it would take a few runs for him to get comfortable with the car and used to shifting with the new 6 speed setup.

After a few runs Derek made his way into the 12's with a 12.97@109mph. That was with a 1.97 60ft. The run after that Derek cracked off a 12.79@109.05mph with a 1.92 60ft.

We had intended putting on the slicks and skinnies and making a few more passes but forgot that we needed to install the sway bar relocation bracket for the 15" wheels to fit. That basically ended the evening.

Overall it was a good night at the track and we hope to be back there next Wednesday. We may try a few more runs stock as Derek believes with a good 60ft we could see a 12.50. Then we'll throw a custom Jon Lund tune on the car and see what she does."

Here is a clip of their 1st drive, minus the cop, and their commentary on the car's delivery.

Here's a quick clip of our first drive in the Lethal Performance 2011 5.0L Mustang GT. We just picked the car up today from our dealer and good friend Philip Weikert of Weikert Ford in Lake Wales, FL. We've purchased 4 cars from Philip in the last few years and he's treated us great every time. We ordered our car on March 20th, 2010. It was built on April 12th and scheduled to be delivered on May 5th however it was help up in Michigan by Ford for unknown reasons.
None the less it finally arrived and was delivered to us on June 7th, 2010. Coming from our black w/grabber blue striped GT500 I really didn't know what to expect. I mean we pretty much had the best of the best when it comes to mustangs so I was only able to go off of everything I've read about the car so far. When I first got to see it in the breezeway at the dealer the grabber blue looked amazing. It stands out like you couldn't believe and I was very happy we chose that color.
As we opened the door to the car I caught a glimpse of the interior and I was definitely impressed. The leather and interior trim looked just as good as our 2010 GT500 interior did. The grabber blue accents in the leather pop right out at you and the dash and tach looked great as well. After we signed all of our papers and went on our way the first thing I noticed was the clutch pedal. It was soft and smooth as can be. There was no chatter or hiss with the clutch. It was like butter and shifting was a breeze. The car feels solid and rides very smooth.
The 5.0L puts out a nice rumble with the stock exhaust under acceleration and feels strong for a completely stock car. Remember we're coming from a 900rwhp Shelby so it's going to take a lot to impress me as far as power goes but I was definitely enjoying the power of the new 4v 5.0L.
We stopped for lunch on the way back and after I got into the car I struggled a little trying to figure out reverse. I'm so used to the Shelby's 6 speed that needs to go to the far right and forward to hit reverse that it threw me off needing to go to the far left and forward. That wasn't it. Not only do you need to go to the far left and forward you need to press down on the handle before making the move to the far left in order for it to actually allow you to go into reverse. After I figured that out it was a great ride home across the state besides getting my first speeding ticket in over 5 years.
The car is so smooth and powerful that I had no clue I was going as fast as I was. Mr. Sherriff made me aware by writing me a ticket and then I continued my way home. None the less Ford did a great job with the car and we're super excited to finally have it in our hands. Now we can do what we do best is work with our excellent vendors/manufacturers to bring our customers the highest quality and best performing aftermarket performance parts possible.

We look forward to doing some suspension and exhaust work along with a custom tune from our tuner Jon Lund as soon as we get a few base line runs in at the track..

STAY TUNED AS THE 5.0L IS BACK!!!

Please come home to daddy!

I should curb my enthusiasm. Some customers say they were in this status for a while.

Drivers of late-model Ford vehicles equipped with Sync Traffic, Directions and Information (TDI) will soon be able to plot out their routes using Google Maps on their home computer and then download turn-by-turn directions directly to the car. TDI is a recent addition that adds a GPS receiver which allows Sync equipped cars and trucks to provide directions even if the vehicle doesn't have the full map based navigation system in place.

Unlike General Motors' OnStar system, which incorporates its own cellular equipment, the TDI functionality uses the communications capability provided by a connected mobile phone linked up by the driver. TDI reaches out to download directional data from the internet through the phone. The route will be calculated online using up-to-date traffic information.

To use the "Send to Sync" feature, Ford and Lincoln owners just need to register on syncmyride.com for the free TDI services. The ability to send Google directions to Sync TDI will be launched later this month with a similar service based on Mapquest launching later this year. Official PR verbiage available after the jump.

Congratulations. They did some sick things with the 2010 GT500. Can't wait to see their work on the 2011 5.0.

Now if Ford would just expedite my Kona Blue 5.0 I ordered in March. I promise to write an objective review and post fabulous photos!

Status: Produced
Vehicle Location: Autoalliance International Inc, MI
Status Date: Jun-01-2010
ETA: Jun-07-2010

I am supposed to have it this month. But there are rumblings of general delays in production.

Not sure why. But another customer who ordered from the same dealership was told that his GT/CS was not going to ship, and that a replacement would be fast tracked from scratch.

There are more stories similar, or cars being built but in "holding" for a very long time. What is confusing is, some customers are getting their cars quickly. And the tuners seem to have gotten fast tracked as co's like Evo Performance are already into the 10 seconds!

But I am sure the wait is going to be worth it. I rather have a well built 5.0 vs one that left a lemon.

I use Twitterfeed.com to push my blog posts to twitter simultaneously. Twitterfeed is having technical issues so the push to twitter hasn't happened for me since June 1. Until this is corrected please check back to the main site for updates, http://50Stangs.blogspot.com.

This came in from a guest here. Hat tip to "John".
