As an enthusiast I often give props to car owners when i see something i appreciate. It can be from any price point or performance level.

But today I had a fairly annoying encounter at a car wash. I go to a nearby gas station/brushless car wash in the winters. As the car was being toweled off, the gas station was being refueled.

The truck driver lended a quick comment, "Is that the new 5.0? How is the gas mileage?"

1st of all, you really shouldn't ask a sports car owner, how are the mpgs. that's like asking a Texan Steakhouse, "How is the fish?"

When i told him I get about 18mpg local, he chuckled and said, "thats worse than my car" And of course, he didn't offer what his car was. after i oblidged and asked, he revealed he has a C5 corvette. Not just any C5 corvette. oh no. his got 23 mpg all day. than he says his C5 has a prototype Z06 motor! then he says 700HP! Did i tell you he has two dodge challengers? One that is a special numbered 2008, and he just ordered the new new 2011 model too. Oh and he has a couple classic cars too.

If your are going to give someone a compliment, just for the sake of bragging about your fake collection, I say that is lame! Keep your comments to yourself and keep it moving please.

"Hey buddy,  here is my collection at home."  two can play that game.
